Humanist Holiday - "Understanding Day"

Aretéanism has eight holidays, three of which are called the "high holidays" because they correspond to our three central tenets. On Saturday it will be our high holiday associated with our second tenet, which reads: "Seek Greater Understanding". As Aretéans, we believe that the scientific method is the best available method for gaining greater understanding about ourselves and the universe around us, and so on "Understanding Day" we venerate science and all of the amazing things we can learn from it!

Most years we make a pretty big production of Understanding Day, but this year we'll be keeping it a little more casual. Come over to our locus (what we call a meeting place) for a short holiday convocation in the evening, and then we'll have a potluck feast in honor of the day, followed by a showing a of science documentary on the topic of geologic time and group discussion.
